Lionel Messi breaks Gerd Mullers’s record

Messi last night broke another record of most number of goals in a calendar year .Previously this record was held by the great Germany and Bayern Munich striker Gerd Muller. Gerd Muller netted incredible 85 goals in  1972 to set up the record which lasted more than twenty years .

Messi last night in the game against Real Betis scored his 86th goal  of the year which finally broke the record of Muller .

Messi  after breaking the record wrote on Facebook that
“It was important to win the game today and pretty amazing to beat Gerd Müller’s 85 goal record.”
“A really big thank you to all my team-mates and fans who have made this possible!”
“Thank you very much for your incredible support. I could not have done this without you!”
Not only this one but last month Messi also broke the  75 goal record of Pele  which he set in  1958 .
Apart from these Messi also is the top scorer in all official competitions with 289 goals  for Barcelona .
1) Messi is the all time top scorer of Barcelona.
2) Messi is the top scorer of LA LIGA with total 192 goals
3) Messi holds the record  of most number of hatricks in all competitions which are 21
4) Messi also holds the record of  most number of hatricks overall  in LA LIGA which are 15 .

Apart from these  records Messi also twice has won FIFA Balon d’OR  which is also a record in itself because no other player  in the world has achieved it before .
Records a side , currently Barcelona is the best club in the world and is considered a dominating force   and you can say that  Messi played a  pivotal role in making it .
