Rooney Tranfer List

The truth behind Rooney’s transfer request is revealed – What does it change?

Wayne Rooney’s relationship with Manchester United’s fans is more love/hate than Marmite.
Things have never fully recovered between Rooney and the fans since he got his bumper contract in 2010. Sir Alex Ferguson, for what was the only time, bowed in to player power in order to keep him at the club.
The 28-year-old didn’t help himself in that his form in the following two seasons was about as predictable as the English weather and he didn’t show much to prove he deserved such a bumper pay packet.
This year, Rooney seemingly dealt his relationship with United fans the final blow by handing in a second transfer request but the Scot confirmed in his book that it never went further than a verbalisation of feelings from Rooney.

Rooney didn’t hand in a transfer request. Verbal discussion came at consequence of frustration and on bad advice from Paul Stretford, he followed it through with a request to leave. It was a media spin that morphed into the truth.
Rooney didn’t push a move any further than some ‘angry and confused’ comments leaked to the press once again by Stretford. He didn’t ever come out and directly say he wanted to leave. Sure, it certainly looked like he wanted to but he could have handed in an official request if it was something he desperately wanted and so far this season, he has reinvented himself.
The real Rooney is back. The Rooney that runs at a defender with enough pace and confidence to skip past them with ease like a schoolboy who feels he is untouchable. Rooney’s kiddish approach to the game was what made him so special – a real street footballer turned pro. This is the Rooney that fans love. A happy, firing on all cylinders Rooney is still one of the best and most complete footballers on the planet.
This is no ode to Roon to swoon at his feet, more a mere view from as subjective a standpoint as possible. He may have wanted to leave but he didn’t. He could have forced it but he didn’t and right now, his form is the best it has been for years. United have got their talisman back but is his relationship with the fans beyond repair?
